If you've been anywhere near Minnesota in 2026, you've seen it. On t-shirts at the grocery store. Stickered to laptops at coffee shops. Painted on protest signs outside the State Capitol. Printed onto hoodies at the No Kings rally. The Rebel Loon has become one of the most recognizable symbols of Minnesota pride and community resistance this state has ever produced, and we've been honored to be part of printing it from the very beginning.

We're Fuzzy Loon Designs, a small print shop and personalized gift store in Waite Park, Minnesota, just outside of St. Cloud. And when the Rebel Loon went viral in January 2026, we leaned in, not because it was a trend, but because it reflects who we are and the community we live in. It affects us.

What Is the Rebel Loon?

The Rebel Loon is a design created by Bernardo Anderson, a web developer from Moorhead, Minnesota. It combines the outline of the Minnesota state bird, the Common Loon, with the iconic Rebel Alliance symbol from Star Wars. Anderson released the design under a public domain Creative Commons license, meaning anyone can use, print, and share it freely. Since then, many, including us have adapted the image into something to mean so much more.

The design emerged in January 2026 as communities across Minnesota came together in response to federal immigration enforcement actions, particularly ICE operations that were directly affecting families and neighbors in our state. The Rebel Loon became a symbol of solidarity, community, and the very Minnesota idea that we take care of each other, no matter where someone is from.

It spread fast. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong wore a Rebel Loon sticker on his guitar at a pre-Super Bowl performance. It appeared on tattoos, yard signs, murals, and rallies across the state. People drove from the Twin Cities to St. Cloud to our small shop to be able to support local and know their money and donations are staying in the community.

Why Fuzzy Loon Designs Prints It

We're not a faceless online seller trying to make a quick buck off a trending design. We're a local Minnesota business. We live here. We work here. Our kids go to school here.

Early on, an early Sunday morning, right after the Rebel Loon design took off, I was arriving early in the morning, alone at the shop. And I witnessed, with my own eyes, ICE taking a man from his vehicle right outside our building. I filmed it. We later heard he was deported. He was not a criminal. He had a job. He was doing everything right. I watched him say goodbye to his wife and his child.

That moment made this personal in a way I can't fully put into words. This wasn't a news story happening somewhere else. It was happening here, in our community, on our street, in front of our shop. It solidified everything I knew and felt at the time.

When ICE operations began affecting families in our own backyard, it wasn't abstract to us. It was something I watched happen in real time. And it's why we didn't hesitate when the Rebel Loon came across our radar.

We made a decision early on to align ourselves with this movement because we believe in the values it represents; community, solidarity, and standing up for your neighbors. To date, we have donated over $30,000 in cash, in-kind products, silent auction items, and printed protest signs to support Minnesota families and organizations working to protect immigrant rights.

That $30,000 didn't come from a corporation. It came from a print shop run by two people who believe that business should be part of the community it serves, not just a transaction.

When you buy Rebel Loon merch from Fuzzy Loon Designs, you're buying from a Minnesota-owned, community-rooted small business that has put its money where its mouth is.

We'll be honest with you (as we always are) we're a for-profit business. We have to be. Without revenue we can't pay our staff, keep the lights on, buy equipment, or grow. But profit at Fuzzy Loon doesn't go to corporate shareholders or some distant investor. It goes back into the business, into better equipment, more products, more capacity to serve this community. Dan and I built this from the ground up because we wanted to create something meaningful in the place we call home. Every dollar you spend here stays in this community in one way or another.

We donate because we can, and we can because this business is healthy, enough thanks to your support, to give something back. That's the cycle we're trying to build — a business that is good at what it does, treats people well, and shows up when it matters. The Rebel Loon gave us an opportunity to show up in a big way, and we took it.

We Ship Nationwide — But We Love Walk-Ins

We ship Rebel Loon merch anywhere in the United States. If you're in Minnesota, you can also stop into our store at 806 Sundial Drive in Waite Park any day we're open. We've had customers drive in from the Twin Cities, Duluth, and even out of state to shop with us in person — and we love every single one of them.

There's something different about buying from a store where the owner is behind the counter, where the printing happens in the same building, and where every order is touched by someone who actually gives a damn. That's what you get at Fuzzy Loon Designs.

Store hours: Monday–Friday 10am–6pm | Saturday 10am–4pm

Supporting the Movement Beyond Merch

This isn't just about selling shirts. The Rebel Loon means something. The communities it represents are real people with real families, real jobs, and deep roots in Minnesota. When you buy from us, part of what we give back goes directly to supporting those communities through donations and partnerships with Minnesota organizations working on the ground.

If you're looking for ways to do more beyond buying merch, we encourage you to connect with local immigrant rights organizations in your area. Wearing the symbol matters. Showing up matters more.

Why Buy From a Local Minnesota Printer?

You've probably seen Rebel Loon designs on Etsy, Amazon, and big online stores. Some of those sellers are printing quality products. Many are not. And very few of them are Minnesota businesses with any actual connection to this movement or this state.

Here's what you get when you buy from Fuzzy Loon Designs:

  • Printed in Minnesota by a Minnesota-owned small business
  • On-demand printing —  no drop shipping or imported crap, we make it ourselves
  • Quality you can trust — years of quality printing on merch we use and wear!
  • Community investment — over $30,000 donated to support Minnesota non-profits
  • A real store you can walk into — 806 Sundial Drive, Waite Park, MN

We're not going anywhere. The Rebel Loon will keep flying over Minnesota for as long as this community needs it, and we'll keep printing it.
